THE ALAN YOUNG TELESCOPE - PROGRESS REPORT 18 September 2006

The telescope is now being re-assembled, after an interval of quite a few weeks, when major components were being worked on.
An extension to the mounting pillar has been designed and fabricated. This lifts the telescope up 0.5m and will permit us to observe lower declinations in the sky.

The pillar extension also incorporates fine adjustment provision for altitude and azimuth alignment.

We have cleaned and painted the polar axis and fitted it to the pillar extension.

The polar drive wormwheel has been refitted. During this, the clutch arrangement was modified for better operation.

The next stage is to attach the polar drive worm and motor assembly.
